Rest homes shut their doors

Rest home visits have ceased under Level 3.

Rest homes in Mahurangi closed to visitors at midday today.

Preparations were being made this morning to set-up tables outside the main entrance of the Summerset Falls retirement home so people can still leave food for family members.

Communications Manager Jenny Bridgen says staff will be screening all urgent deliveries to the village and the main gates are closed. It is understood that residents’ movements within the home is also being restricted.

“Any events are now cancelled until midnight Friday,” she says. “In our care centre we have re-introduced temperature testing for all clinical staff and face masks are being worn.

“If compassionate visits are required for those in palliative care or end of life, please call our care centre manager for advice.”

Latest information can be found at summerset.co.nz.

The Oaks on Neville Retirement Village is also closed, as well as the café downstairs.
