Annette Sicely, left, and Olgo Yuretich, from NZ Heritage Roses, are regular exhibitors at the Rose & Flower Show.
It was a fragrant Warkworth Town Hall that greeted visitors to the annual Warkworth Garden Club Rose and Flower Show on November 15.
The competition, which has been held since 1921, is still going strong with more than 300 entries this year. Organiser Annette Sharp said the standard was high, considering a freak hailstorm that struck Warkworth in the preceding week.
Di Jensen again proved her flair for flowers, winning four trophies including Best In Show and President’s Choice. Her sister, Norma Miller, also won a number of accolades including Champion of Champions in roses.
The sisters grew up in Matakana and have submitted an entry every year they have lived here, Annette says.
