Youth Centre review complete

Auckland Council’s full, “360-degree” review into the governance and operations of the Hibiscus Coast Youth Centre, which began around the middle of this year, is complete.

The centre, based in Western Reserve, Orewa, provides support to the region’s young people, including dealing with issues such as employment, leadership, education, wellness and suicide prevention.

A summary of the report was presented to the Hibiscus & Bays Local Board on September 27 by consultant Steve Trollestrup.

Auckland Council community empowerment manager Christine Olsen says the report is currently with the Youth Centre’s trustees, who will meet with Council staff once they have worked through it to decide how the report can be used to guide future opportunities.

Hibiscus Matters has requested a copy of the report into this publicly funded, and largely volunteer-run, youth facility under the Official Information Act.
