Police officers continue to scour roads, waterways and bush in the Whangateau area in search of an 84-year-old woman missing since 8pm yesterday.
Maree Wilkins was reported missing from a rest home on Leigh Road at 9am today.
Boats, as well as the Eagle helicopter, have been searching the harbour and wetlands, while more than 20 officers from police search and rescue have been knocking on doors and searching the surrounding countryside.
Police are asking residents in the area between Omaha Valley Road and the Ti Point turn-off to check their properties including sheds and garages.
The missing woman is described as being five feet tall (150cms) and frail. She was last seen wearing dark trousers and a multi-coloured top, and she could be wearing gumboots.
